Same day smile makeover with composite veneers

I've recently had several requests for composite veneers, so here is a case we did this week to show you what we can achieve with composite veneers.

What are composite veneers?

A veneer is a facing bonded to a surface of a tooth to improve its appearance or to repair a broken, worn down or heavily filled tooth. Veneers can be used to mask discoloured teeth, close gaps and spaces and improve the appearance of misaligned teeth.

Most people have heard of porcelain veneers - these are facings made from porcelain or ceramic. This means that usually (but not always) some preparation is required to your natural teeth so that the dental technician can fabricate the porcelain veneers to fit perfectly.

Composite veneers are a facing made from a tooth coloured resin material. Like porcelain veneers, they can fabricated indirectly by a dental technician from impressions / moulds of your teeth. Unlike porcelain veneers however, composite veneers can also be made directly in the dentist chair by the dentist, making them a quicker, more cost effective way to improve your smile.

Same day smiles

Because composite veneers can be made directly in the dentist chair, you could walk in with your mishapen or misaligned teeth and walk out with a straighter, whiter smile after only an hour or two!

This patient was unhappy with her smile as they were misaligned and discoloured. We discussed the option of braces or aligners to straighten the teeth, as well as porcelain veneers and composite veneers.

The patient wanted a natural result and treatment that would not require several visits (and time off work). She was sure she did not want braces treatment and she was also concerned about any preparation or invasive treatment to her otherwise healthy teeth, she asked "if my veneer came off would it still look like my tooth or a stump?". After a thorough examination and discussion of the pros and cons of each option, composite veneers were the perfect solution for her as they required no preparation to her tooth, which means a pain-free treatment with no injections needed. They also suited her budget and she was happy that long term, her composite veneers can be easily repaired and maintained.

After a thorough clean, we placed a direct composite veneer using different layers and blending of composite resin to her top right front tooth and repaired a chipped edge with some edge bonding to her top left front tooth. After less than 2 hours, she walked out with her beautiful new smile!

Composite veneers start from £250 each.
